Managing DSEAR Training Overview

This DSEAR training is designed to provide delegates with a practical information of how dangerous substances and explosive atmospheres are identified, assessed and controlled in the workplace.

Grounded in current UK legislation, including DSEAR 2002, the ATEX 2014/34/EU Directive (UKCA Ex), and relevant British Standards, it introduces the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) and the principles of hazardous area classification under current standards and explains the legal duties placed on employers to reduce the risk of explosion so far as is reasonably practicable.

The course focuses on why DSEAR applies, when explosive atmospheres can occur, how hazardous areas are classified, and how ignition sources and equipment selection influence risk.

The training places strong emphasis on real-world application, supported by case studies, zoning exercises and practical examples, and introduces the DSEAR risk assessment process, enabling delegates to understand what to expect from a compliant DSEAR assessment and how to contribute effectively to its development and review.
